Adorable Silver Pencilled Cochin Bantams 1
Silver Pencilled Cochin Chickens – Rare Fluffy Gentle Giants
Looking for a rare, breathtaking breed? Meet the Silver Pencilled Cochin Bantams. The softest, most elegant Cochin variety with feathered feet and intricate silver pencilling.
These birds are living art. One of the most sought-after breeds for backyard flocks, breeders, and poultry shows in the WORLD.
What Makes Them Special?
Unlike Buff or Black Cochins, Silver Pencilled Cochin Bantams features black pencilling on a clean silver-white background. Roosters have silver-white hackles, black breasts, and striking tails.
Hens show fine pencilling over their whole body. Soft, laced, and elegant on a giant Cochin frame. Roosters reach 11 lbs, hens 8-9 lbs.
Temperament: Perfect Family Chicken
Famous for calm, sweet, and cuddly nature. Not flighty at all.
Incredibly docile and friendly. Perfect for kids, they love to be held and will follow you around the yard.
Great for mixed flocks with Silkies and Orpingtons. Legendary broodies that will hatch and raise chicks naturally.
Cold hardy and adaptable. Their abundant fluff thrives in cold climates like Maine and Minnesota. They handle confinement and small backyards well.
Egg Laying & Care
Not production layers, but reliable. Expect 3-4 medium-large brown eggs per week, even through winter.
Low-maintenance and can’t fly over fences due to heavy weight. Just keep feathered feet dry and clean.
Are They Rare?
Yes. One of the rarest APA-recognized Cochin colors. True SOP-quality stock is very hard to find.
Our line is selected for correct pencilling, heavy foot feathering, massive size, and sweet temperament. Not hatchery quality.
